CVs and Cover Letters are useful in job applications

We had another good session on careers issues with the focus on CVs and cover letters. The basics were this:

a) your cv should be adapted to each role you’re applying for, and tailored for those so that one for programming will look different from one for a business analyst role as you stress different skills and experience.

b) you need a cover letter as a separate attachment alongside your cv so that you can explain ‘why’ you want to work for this company, and ‘how’ you match their needs in the job application.

Where possible you should also align what’s here with what you have on your LinkedIn page too.
