Percentile norms (with interval estimates) for the MDAS

Program: MDAS_PRs.exe

This program for PCs accompanies the paper: Humphris, G., Crawford, J. R., Hill, K., Gilbert, A., & Freeman, R. (2013). UK population norms for the Modified Dental Anxiety Scale with percentile calculator: Adult Dental Health Survey 2009 results. BMC Oral Health, 13: 29. (doi: 10.1186/1472-6831-13-29).

(Reprint as pdf)

The program (MDAS_PRs.exe) takes an individual's raw score on the Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS) and expresses the score as a percentile rank. The point estimate of the percentile rank is accompanied by (Bayesian) 95% interval estimates. The overall normative sample size is N =10,990 . The norms are stratified by age and gender (users identify their case's age and gender using radio buttons).

Click here to download the program as an executable or here to download as a zip file.

Your web browser is most probably configured to recognise that the files are executable. If you have any problems (i.e. the browser treats them as text files), hold down the shift key when clicking. If your network does not allow downloads of executables then downloading the zip file is a solution.

Once downloaded, the programs can be run by any of the normal Windows procedures i.e. by clicking on file in File Manager or by placing on desktop etc (The program is for PCs but should also run on a Mac provided suitable PC emulation software is installed).
