Hi, All,
Some of you are not quite clear on what to do for the Lab Report due
Monday. This email is to make it clearer.
(1) Read the LAB REPORT FORMAT. This is a 2 pages handout I gave you in
the first class. You can also find it from my course webpage
http://me.lsu.edu/~tan/teaching/lab/format.htm
(2) The report contains: I) FRONT MATTER, including title, abstract,
table of contents, list of nomenclature, list of figures and tables,
introduction; II) BODY, including experimental apparatus and procedure,
results, discussion and conclusion; III) REAR MATTER, including
references and appendix.
(3) This report contains the Mechanical Testing (Hardness, Impact, and
Tensile). For the tensile test, the date can be find from the webpage.
If you did not get the file, go to
http://me.lsu.edu/~tan/teaching/lab/topics/tensile.htm
and download the files for Steel and Aluminum tensile test data.
This is a very formal report, and you should really do it according to
the requirements. Another thing is important, show your creativity in
the lab discussion.
This report needs a long time to complete. So make sure you set enough
time to do it.
The experiment for next class is on Heat Treatment, Quenching and
Tempering. We will have a Quiz before the experiment. Remember you can
not reference the handout when you do the Quiz. I will spend some time
before the Quiz to answer you questions.
Have a nice weekend!
Honglai.
