Homotopy uniqueness of BG_2.

\begin{abstract}
In this work, we prove that the homotopy type of the
classifying space of the exceptional Lie group $G_2$
is determined by its mod $2$ type as well as by its
Weyl group type at the prime $2$. The proof is based
on the mod $p$ approximation of the classifying space
of a compact Lie group via its $p$-stubborn subgroups
developed by Jackowski, McClure and Oliver. The
construction of the mod $2$ equivalence follows a
slightly different version of the programmeme developed
by Notbohm in the case of $p$-convenient Lie groups.
