Let $V$ be a 4-dimensional vector space over a finite field of characteristic 2, equipped with a nonsingular alternating bilinear form. Let $P$ be the set of 1-dimensional subspaces and $L$ the set of 2-dimensional isotropic subspaces. The incidence relation between these sets can be represented by an incidence matrix $A$ (with entries in $\Bb F_2$). In this paper, modular representation theory is used to determine the rank of $A$.
