The group of endotrivial modules for the symmetric and alternating groups.

Abstract. 
We complete a classification of the groups of endotrivial modules for
the modular group algebras of symmetric groups and alternating
groups. This completes the work begun earlier by Carlson, Mazza and
Nakano.
