The main result of this paper states a formula expressing the effect of tensor
induction on relative syzygies in the Dade group of a $p$-group.
This provides tools to study the structure of this group, and a new proof of
theorems A and B of our joint work with J. Thevenaz
`The group of endo-permutation modules'.
Finally, it is possible to say when a relative syzygy is a torsion element of
the Dade group.
