The integral cohomology rings of U3(5) and HS at the prime 5

        Abstract. In this paper we calculate the localization at the prime 5 
of the integral cohomology ring of the 3-dimensional Unitary group over the
field of twenty-five elements, and for the Higman-Sims sporadic simple group. 
For both of these groups the Sylow subgroup is isomorphic to the extraspecial 
group of height 5 and order 125.
