Text of Abstract: If A is a ring of S-integers and l a prime rational 
number, then the mod p cohomology of the general linear group GL(n,A)
is conjectured to be isomorphic to the mod p cohomology of the etale approximation of the classifying space BGL(n,A). We show that this is 
not possible if n is sufficiently large.
