We offer PhD supervision in a wide range of fields, work closely with other research units around Scotland, and are always looking for promising proposals.

Please look through the web pages of our teaching staff to see who might best support you in your research and then contact them directly with an outline proposal. Alternatively you can email the SCHR (schr [at] abdn.ac.uk) itself with a brief description of your background and interests and we will consider how we might best support you.

As of 2009 our PhD students are undertaking research in Nepal, Ladakh, NE India, Tibet and Mongolia, and working on topics including plant taxonomy, conversion and identity, ethnobiology and migration, and development ethics.
