ABDN200979a01.JPG - Cambridge Instrument Co.: Unipivot Range The Unipivot range begun by R W Paul illustrates an evolutionary sequence in the development of electrical measuring instruments. The basic meter evolved from a square format to a rounded format; materials changed from machined brass and cut, dovetailed, glued and varnished wood to moulded plastic. Separate individual shunts and multipliers gave way to combined units and ultimately to all-in-one designs such as the Avo range of test meters that was the stock in trade meter for the third quarter of the 20th century. Our collection includes Unipivot instruments with a range of designs. Illustrated here are is a later example with microamp sensitivity, circa 1936, along with individual shunts and a combined multiplier box for AC measurements.
