Only 1 species: Trichoplax adhaerens
Trichoplax adhaerens, the most primitive multi-cellular animal known, is amoeboid in form and covered in flagella. It has only three cell layers and only four different kinds of cells. It is thought it feeds on algae and it absorbs nutrition through its ventral surface.
