CS50IP Industrial Placement (Course code before 2009 was CS4016)
Students spend a year gaining experience in the workplace,
either between their third and fourth years of study or after their fourth year.
Students who successfully complete a CS50IP-style placement and otherwise fulfill the requirements for an honours degree will be awarded an MSci degree "with industrial placement"
(not to be confused with an MSc), to acknowledge the fact that these degrees take five years.
The department do not guarantee that a CS50IP-style placement will be found for every student who wants one, but will actively support interested students in
their search efforts, in conjunction with others (see below). Placements may take place in industry, in government, or in NGOs; placements inside the university are also possible.
Before this course came to entail an MSci degree in 2009, it used to have the course code CS4026. The old code survises in some documentation on the course.
