Skiing at easter
« on: February 15, 2011, 12:44:03 AM »
(i thought i'd put this in here since its nothing to do with the club or boating, and coz i am old skool now and coz this bit of the forum is rarely used)

Anyway, Matt and I are really keen to organise a ski holiday for this easter holiday, going to the alps.  This means you could have an absolutely amazing easter holiday (skiing for the first half, and tour de britain for the second half - dont worry you'd be back in plenty of time for rest and recuperation in between).  And if your unable to make tour de britain for whatever reason, you can still enjoy your easter!

So basicly if your interested, NOW is the time to start really pulling this together, and establishing whether you can afford it, and if you really want to come on this holiday of a lifetime.  Its most likely to be a weeks holiday from approx 26th/27th March and is unlikely to cost more than £500 (absolute maximum).  That would include flights, airport transfer, lift pass, accommodation, kit hire,  possibly even insurance.  Only thing you'll need to pay when out there is food and alcohol - and we all know from experience aucc can do that on the cheap!

You also dont need to be a competent skiier/boarder, i went on a holiday basicly a beginner before.

If you have any questions please email me: stniv at hotmail.com (like i need to tell you it - sent enough emails to you for the past 2 years!) or post below!

I'm going out skiing for the first two weeks anyway, so If you somewhere in Tirol or Zillertal I can easily get over for a couple of days or something. Also I can sort you transfers and shit easily from Munich/Zurich/Innsbruck/Salzburg airports. Maybe take a look at Mayrhofen, which also has the benefit of high skiing on the nearby glacier included on the lift pass.

This season's been fairly crap for snow so far, but currently Austria is doing better than the more temperate western alps (france/switzerland).
