Pool sessions are at 9.00pm on Tuesdays and 7.30pm on Fridays at the Aquatics Centre. Polo sessions are on Sundays at 7.30pm

Aberdeen University Canoe Club (AUCC) is one of the biggest clubs in Aberdeen University and it is AWESOME!!! We have an experienced group of kayakers who lead river trips for all levels and abilities throughout the year. Beginners are always welcome. You will be given all the training you need during our 2 pool sessions each week as well as on fun beginners’ rivers like the River Dee and Don, both of which flow into Aberdeen. More experienced paddlers will be given the opportunity to improve their skills on more challenging trips to a variety of rivers.

There are many great rivers within an easy drive of Aberdeen: the North Esk, South Esk, Findhorn and Blackwater as well as several trips to the west coast to paddle some of the hundreds of rivers there. Some of the more challenging rivers that we regularly paddle in the local area include the Garbh Allt, Lui and Muick.

We have a very strong competitive side to our club. Our canoe polo team has just been promoted to Scottish division 1, and our ladies’ team won first prize at last year’s SUS polo tournament in Glasgow. We have also competed in the BUCS Slalom competition at Teeside white water course.

Our club has a VERY active social scene; with club nights out twice a week and two enormous pub-crawls.  We certainly are the most social club in Aberdeen! In October we have a massive 2-day party called Freshers’ Weekend where everyone has awesome fun and then possibly go kayaking in the mornings. It is honestly the best party EVER!! Though few can ever remember what happened at it.

To all the freshers and any kayakers coming to Aberdeen University this year, if you’re going to pick one club to join then join AUCC. You will have loads of fun, go kayaking and make great new friends!!!
